Reintegrating Women into the Labor Market
Women are disproportionately affected by unemployment, underemployment and dismissal. GIZ supported the Ministry of Labour and relevant actors in Nanjing and Benxi to address discriminatory practices and to implement specific measures for the integration of women into the labor market. New laws were drafted to strengthen the position of women (law on labor agreements and law on the promotion of employment). Counselling services were established to address the specific needs of women and training measures support women who want to become self-employed. In total the project reached out to more than 13.000 women, of whom more than 80 per cent stayed in their positions for more than six months.
