Teacher Training Management Support
In Malawi, the ratio of female students in the Public Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) amounts about 35 per cent. In consequence, there will not be enough female role models for the rural primary schools to encourage girls to finish their primary education or even continue with secondary school. Therefore the cooperation with FAWEMA (Female African Women Educationalist Malawi Chapter) supports gender-responsive pedagogy in all public and private TTCs in Malawi. All lecturers were trained from October 2009 until April 2011 and action plans were developed to sensitize the entire College community on gender-responsive pedagogy.
