Gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles not only limit women's and girls' agency and decision-making opportunities, but also that of men and boys. Therefore, a critical analysis and reflection of traditional notions of masculinity and femininity is necessary. Only when working together, women and men can overcome gender-based discriminations and disadvantages sustainably.

Therefore, open-minded and reform-oriented men in key positions – such as fathers, religious authorities, members of parliament, teachers or business representatives – are actively involved as change agents to promote women’s rights and to overcome gender discrimination and violence against women.
